Quality and Test Specifications
Scope
These Quality and Test Specifications are applicable for the assembly and maintenance1) of public and private drains and sewers and the associated structures.
General conditions
The assembly and maintenance of drains and sewers are governed by the generally accepted rules of the art as described in DIN and/or DIN EN standards and in the relevant regulations of the DWA (German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste).
Quality regulations
Execution areas and appraisal groups If the requirements on one of the following service groups are met, an enterprise is classified in the appraisal group of the same name.
Laying of drains and sewers of all materials in nominal widths ≤ DN 250 in open construction with the associated structures down to a depth of 3 m.
Execution area AK3 is a constituent part of execution areas AK2 and AK1.
Laying of drains and sewers of all materials in nominal widths ≤ DN 1,200 in open construction with the associated structures down to a depth of 5 m.
Execution area AK2 is a constituent part of execution area AK1. Quality mark holders of group AK2 meet the requirements of group AK3.
Laying of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths, in particular also > DN 1,200 and in depths > 5 m with the associated structures in open construction under aggravated conditions.
Quality mark holders of group AK1 meet the requirements of groups AK2 and AK3.
Trenchless laying of drains and sewers using controllable pilot pipe methods and comparable controllable methods.
A limitation to product pipes ≤ DN 150 is stated on the award certificate.
Trenchless unmanned laying of drains and sewers using controllable methods in micro-tunnelling using augers and slurry conveyors.
Quality mark holders of group VMD also meet the requirements of group VM.
Trenchless laying of drains and sewers using enclosed controllable shields and support of the heading face through liquid using compressed air or earth pressure (e.g. mix or EPB shield).
Quality mark holders of group VMD also meet the requirements of group VM.
Trenchless manned laying of drains and sewers using open controllable shields without compressed air or manned laying based on mining construction techniques.
A limitation to mining construction techniques is stated on the award certificate.
Quality mark holders of group VOD also meet the requirements of group VO.
Trenchless manned laying of drains and sewers using open controllable shields under compressed air.
Quality mark holders of group VOD also meet the requirements of group VO.
Trenchless rehabilitation of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths with the associated structures. Sewer construction quality marks of appraisal group S.. are awarded for the handling of one individual rehabilitation method. The methods are stated on the award certificate.

Cleaning of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths with the associated structures.
Leakage testing of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths with the associated structures.
Tendering and construction monitoring in the laying and testing of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths in open construction with the associated structures.
Tendering and construction monitoring in the trenchless laying and testing of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths with the associated structures.
Tendering and construction monitoring in the trenchless rehabilitation of drains and sewers of all materials and nominal widths with the associated structures.
